Despite the challenges posed by inclement weather, twenty-five field personnel for Luzon who will be part of the 8th Wave of the Longitudinal Cohort Study on the Filipino Child (LCSFC) successfully completed the rigorous two-week training at the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) from July 21, July 23 to 25, and July 28 to August 1, 2025 via face-to-face and online sessions.
LCSFC is a national study that tracks transitions faced by young Filipinos aged 10 in 2016 in relation to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals from 2016 to 2030. The study is funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and supported by national government agencies such as the Department of Health, Department of Education, and Department of Economy, Planning, and Development. The USC-Office of Population Studies Foundation, Inc. (OPS), the implementing agency for LCSFC, has been collaborating with the Demographic Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (DRDF) since 2016 to conduct survey interviews to representative sample households for the Luzon area.
The research staff from the University of San Carlos-Office of Population Studies (USC-OPS) led the two-week training, including: Dr. Judith Borja, Ms. Tita Lorna Perez, Ms. Delia Carba, Dr. Della Belleza, Mr. Leo Angelo Ocampo, Ms. Nikola Mae Belarmino, Ms. Isabelita Bas, and Mr. George Soria. Meanwhile, staff from the Demographic Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (DRDF) assisted with the overall administrative, logistics, and technical aspects of the training.
Data collection for Wave 8 of LCSFC will be from August to October 2025.
