THE proportion of youth aged 15-24 in Davao Region aware of HIV/AIDS has declined, a recent study revealed.
Data from the national 2013 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study (Yafs 4) conducted by the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) and the Demographic Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (DRDF) showed a 1.2 percentage point decline, from 93.0 percent in 2002 to 90.8 percent in 2013.
IN CELEBRATION of the World Population Day on July 11, the Population Commission (PopCom) in northern Mindanao celebrated the day anchored on the theme “Investing in Young People.”
PopCom said the youth, which comprises nearly 20 percent of the country’s population, is an investment for a better society.
DAVAO CITY — Davao Region ranks fifth among the country’s 17 regions in teenage fertility as well as in the number of youths aged 15-24 who had accessed pornographic content through various reading and online materials.
DRDF works closely with the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI), with whom it has special working relationship and arrangements. DRDF is temporarily housed in the UPPI premises.
